On this Day…

It’s been the hottest day of the year so far and oh my God don’t I know it. I’m too warm and I can’t sleep so I thought I would check out the ‘On this Day’ section on my Facebook when I came across this…

I immediately got a pang of sadness. I can’t even remember what this was about (and why I would do such an indirect status ha) but this was 16 year old me. I wonder who said this to me? I never liked fuss, I didn’t want to talk about needing things adapted and I definitely didn’t want to speak up about things.

I wish 16 year old me could see older me. But then I suppose it took people and the ridiculous comments people made for me to finally start speaking out and challenging them. And actually if I could have seen me now I don’t think I would have ever thought I would be as sassy and challenging. But over time I learnt that being assertive doesn’t have to be rude and I could even use my sense of humour with it.

Later I would learn that I actually used my assertiveness as a hobby and started a blog…

Ah, sorry it’s a bit self involved this isn’t it? So the message of today’s post… Looking back is weird and a Facebook status has the power to take you right back to a complete different stage in your life. So why don’t you try it? You never know what you might find!
