Are The Apple Airpods Worth It?
If you’ve been here a while you may know, I love technology and making life easier any way possible. A couple of years ago, I was gifted the Sennheiser PXC 500 headphones – you can read my review here. It was then I discovered the whole wireless listening tech and loved (and still do) how I could listen to music wherever and not get tangled in wires. However, I’ve been eyeing up the AirPods for something a little smaller for when you’re not sat up straight. So I decided to take the plunge and treat myself to the AirPod pros. I’m someone who researches for a long time before buying something, so I thought I’d share this for anyone else who’s thinking about it. Let’s be honest, the price of these is HUGE so you really need to make sure you’re getting what you want and need.
What They Come With
In the box the AirPods Pro come in a white case that recharges them when they’re in. I really like this as you’re not continuously recharging like you do with your phone. I also like to use one earphone at a time so I get more time out of each charge #cheeky. I would say I charge my case about once a week and that’s with using one AirPod for a few hours each evening. I would say if you use them throughout the day, you’d have to charge more regularly (possibly every night). The contents include a wire that’s a lightning USB on one each side and USB C on the other, but I haven’t been using that – I’ve just used my regular phone charger.
What I really like is that they also come with 3 sizes of earbuds. The reason that I bought the AirPods 2 instead of the first ones is because the original AirPods didn’t sit in my ears very well. They would slip out of my ear as the ear bit was plastic so it never felt secure. As I basically have no neck (I do lol it’s just very small) I need very secure earphones as there’s not much room for them to sit. The Airpods Pro however have a rubber earbud which suits me so much better. I have small ears so I chose the smallest bud which is great and they fit perfectly and don’t slip out. Phew. Although I always have a little game on a morning of “find the AirPod” in my bed as I like to sleep with either an audio book on or calming music – so that’s always fun.
The main reason why I forked out this money is because of Apple’s way of connecting your devices. It’s so seamless the way as soon as you connect them that’s it. Sorry, I’m not that person that can tell you the ins and outs of tech but I can tell you… You can be watching a YouTube video out loud, stick an AirPod in and it switches automatically. I also really like that if you take an AirPod out, it stops what’s playing. You know how it is when someone calls your name and you try and scramble for the pause button – that is no more! You can also change this in the settings though if you don’t want ear detection on. One thing I will say is when I first got it, I thought the case wasn’t charging as the light went out after a while when I plugged it in. It turns out it does that – I suppose so it’s not lit up constantly.
So, is it worth it for the price? I’ve got to admit, I am shocked at the price and don’t know how they come out at over £200.00. I would say if you have the money to treat yourself – it’s a key piece of tech for your collection and you hopefully won’t be disappointed. I use mine everyday and I don’t think I’ve wasted my money but it’s not essential either. I’m sure there are other bluetooth devices that would do a similar job. I suppose what lurs me in is the fact that I can sync to my apple devices in seconds. Classic Apple ey, you’ve done it again – and it probably won’t be the last time either…
Whether you’re looking into getting some or just like to read up on tech (same) I hope this helped!
